Steel Technologies in Smyrna, TN is seeking a Slitter Operator to set up and run a slitter according to customer specs. You will inspect equipment, measure dimensions, align parts, and produce material per instructions.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform complete set-up and operational tasks of slitting to specifications.
• Experience using measurement tools to verify dimensions.
• Commitment to safety rules and production procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a slitter per customer specifications and work orders.
• Inspect equipment and measure dimensions during processing.
• Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil.
• Thread coil through slitter head and crop non-conforming material.
• Maintain production and quality standards with measurements before, during, and after processing.
• Check gauge width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface condition and adjust as needed.
• Set gauge monitoring system and ensure calibration.
• Communicate non-compliance to supervisor or shift lead.
• Band/secure slit mults and complete production documentation.
• Assist maintenance with troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Remove scrap, clean area, and keep slitter area tidy.
