Job summary

Steel Technologies is seeking a Slitter Operator in Kentucky to set up and operate a slitter according to customer specifications and work orders. You will inspect equipment, measure dimensions, align parts, and produce material per production instructions.

Key duties include making arbor/overarm set-ups, threading coils, checking gauges and surface conditions, and documenting production. The role supports maintenance, safety, and quality standards while offering competitive benefits and growth

Qualifications

• Experience operating slitting or similar metalworking equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret production instructions.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Make and inspect arbor/overarm set-ups per production instructions.
• Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil.
• Thread coil through slitter head and crop non-compliant material.
• Thread mults into recoiler.
• Maintain production and quality by measuring and verifying before, during, and after processing.
• Check and record gauge width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface condition.
• Set gauge monitoring system and ensure calibration.
• Adjust machine setup to correct defects during slitting.
• Notify supervisor of non-compliant production.
• Band/secure and identify slit mults.
• Complete production documentation.
• Assist maintenance to troubleshoot malfunctions and perform preventive maintenance.
• Remove scrap and empty hopper as needed.
• Clean slitter and surrounding area.
