Tufts Medicine's Melrose/Wakefield Hospital seeks a Sleep Technologist to evaluate patients with sleep disorders and deliver therapies to improve physical and cognitive conditions. The role involves in-center and home testing, scoring data, and patient education under medical supervision.

The position requires a sleep technology program completion, RPSGT or eligible, BLS certification, a high school diploma, and two years in a sleep lab.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a sleep technology program.
• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or eligible for RPSGT or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), or Certified Polysomnographic Technologist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Two years of experience in a sleep lab.

Responsibilities

• Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information to identify needs (physical, mental limitations, current status, medical/social history).
• Determines final testing parameters/procedures with ordering physician or medical director and sleep center protocols.
• Reviews patient history and verifies medical orders.
• Follows sleep center protocols related to the sleep study.
• Verifies identification, collects documents and obtains consent for the study.
• Explains the procedure and orients the patient for in-center or home sleep apnea testing.
• Selects appropriate equipment and calibrates for testing and makes adjustments as necessary.
• Administers oxygen and nasal CPAP and uses ventilatory assist devices per established protocols.
• Follows procedures (MSLT, MWT, parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration) to ensure data collection.
• Performs special procedures such as MSLT and ambulatory monitoring.
• Scores sleep/wake stages by applying professional standards.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Successful completion of a sleep technology program

Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or eligible for RPSGT or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), or Certified Polysomnographic Technologist

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Two years of experience in a sleep lab
