Job summary

Melrose/Wakefield Hospital, part of Tufts Medicine, is seeking a Sleep Technologist to evaluate sleep disorders and perform in-center and home sleep testing. The role operates under medical supervision with emphasis on safe operation of sleep equipment and accurate documentation.

Ideal candidates have a sleep technology program completion, RPSGT eligibility or equivalent, BLS, and 2+ years in a sleep lab. Full-time, 36 hours weekly, 12-hour overnights, with growth opportunities and comprehensive

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a sleep technology program.
• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or eligible for RPSGT or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), or Certified Polysomnographic Technologist.
• BLS certification.
• Two years of experience in a sleep lab.
• Preferred: three years of experience in a sleep lab.

Responsibilities

• Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information to identify needs.
• Determines testing parameters with physician and protocols.
• Reviews patient history and medical orders.
• Follows sleep center protocols for the study.
• Verifies identification and obtains consent.
• Explains procedures and orients patients for testing.
• Selects equipment and calibrates for proper function.
• Administers oxygen and CPAP/BiPAP as prescribed.
• Monitors and records sleep/wake data and events.
• Scores sleep stages and clinical events per AASM.
• Generates accurate reports from data.
• Provides patient education for testing options.
• Performs routine equipment care and infection control.
• Maintains inventory and supports CQI activities.
• Cross-trains to ensure coverage and department needs.
