Job summary

The role requires completion of an approved MA training program, active MA certification, BLS, and strong computer and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
• Active Medical Assistant Certification.
• BLS certification required.
• Requires strong computer skills and interpersonal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam by taking and recording vital signs and documenting chief complaint.
• Assists providers with exams and procedures and performs phlebotomies and EKGs as needed.
• Coordinates pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling; relays test results to patients.
• Provides clerical support including maintaining medical records and assisting with billing documentation.
• Maintains clean examination rooms and disinfects equipment per guidelines.
• Orders supplies and handles medication-related tasks (recalls, expirations).
• Develops effective communication with patients and staff; supports team oriented care.
• Completes onboarding/orientation activities and follows through with training.
• Works under supervision of providers and collaborates with various departments.
