Job summary

Lamar Consolidated ISD seeks an Aide in the Structured Learning Classroom at Meyer Elementary to support the SLC teacher and foster a positive learning environment for students ages 3–21 with special needs.

The aide provides instructional and non-instructional support, assists with IEP goals, behavior strategies, data collection, and supervision during meals and field trips. CPI certification or ability to obtain is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• On Title 1 campuses: 48 college hours or meet NCLB requirements for Highly Qualified Paraprofessionals.
• On non-Title 1 campuses: 30 college hours or relevant full-time experience with special needs students.

Responsibilities

• Cooperatively perform tasks under the supervision of the SLC teacher.
• Assist in preparing and implementing Positive Behavior Supports and the Texas Behavior Support Initiative.
• Assist in teaching and implementing school rules and routines at the campus.
• Provide academic/vocational instruction aligned with IEP goals/objectives and state assessments.
• Escort students to electives/outclasses as directed by the SLC teacher.
• Collect data on student IEP goals/objectives as directed by the SLC teacher.
• Supervise students during lunch, play, field trips.
• Perform non-instructional duties (snack, toileting, routines).
• Assist medically fragile students with personal hygiene.
• Attend meetings/trainings related to job functions.
• Confer with teachers regularly for accountability and progress evaluation.
• Attendance at work is essential.
• Other duties as assigned.
