Job summary

SpartanNash in Delta, Ohio is seeking a Meat Cutter/Apprentice to cut, weigh and prepare meat products per department standards in a fast-paced retail setting. You will follow recipes, price and package items, and help maintain clean, well-stocked displays.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, basic math, and reading comprehension. Prior meat-cutting or retail experience is preferred. Physical duties include lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods.

Qualifications

• Reading, writing, comprehension and interpretation of documents.
• Basic mathematical skills required.
• Knowledge of suggestive selling and product information.
• Detail-oriented with accuracy in weights and prices.

Responsibilities

• Cut and weigh steaks, chops, etc. for individual servings.
• Produce value-added products per established guidelines.
• Cut, trim and bone carcass sections or prime cuts to cooking cuts.
• Follow recipes to grind and tray meats and make sausage and other products.
• Price, date, wrap and/or bag meat products using department scales.
• Fill, rotate and merchandise shelves, cases and displays.
• Notify the manager if products and supplies need to be ordered.
• Receive, unload, and stock merchandise.
• Know product differences in price, taste, and preparation.
• Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers.
• Follow PPE, safety, and food safety guidelines.
• May be assigned tasks in other departments as needed.
