New York State Office of Mental Health in Syracuse, NY seeks a Maintenance Assistant to perform semi-skilled maintenance across plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, and electrical tasks. Work involves following supervisor layouts and may include journey-level activities under supervision to learn skills.

Qualifications include two years of related experience or a two-year technical school program, plus a NYS driver’s license when required.

Qualificações

• Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work, or a two-year technical school program as an equivalent.
• Completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program with related coursework.
• Valid New York State driver's license when required to operate vehicles.

Responsabilidades

• Perform routine replacement and repair of plumbing and steamfitting equipment and install new equipment per supervisor layouts.
• Carry out semiskilled carpentry tasks, repairs to doors, windows, furniture, and erecting/building forms.
• Do masonry repairs such as patching plaster, tile setting, brickwork, and concrete finishing.
• Assist in painting and decorating, including interior/exterior work and wallpapering.
• Handle routine electrical tasks: repair equipment, install lighting, outlets, switches, and wiring.
