Job summary

The Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) is seeking Maintenance Assistants to perform semiskilled maintenance, repair, and related activities in our facilities. Duties include operating machine tools, plumbing and steamfitting repairs, carpentry, painting, electrical work, and general upkeep to support safe, accessible services.

Qualifications

• Two years of maintenance or mechanical work experience or completion of a two-year technical school course.
• Preferred qualifications include being skilled in one or more trades.
• Approval requires valid NYS driver's license and basic computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Operates machine tools.
• Performs routine plumbing and steamfitting repairs.
• Cuts, welds and brazes various metal materials.
• Performs semiskilled carpentry activities.
• Assists in repairing and maintaining locks.
• Performs semiskilled masonry repairs and installations.
• Repairs, rebuilds and assists with roof installations.
• Assists in interior and exterior painting and decorating.
• Performs routine electrical work and repairs of equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
