Job summary

MPS Group Inc. seeks a Safety Manager to join the Ford Rouge Complex in Dearborn, MI. The role focuses on implementing and enforcing corporate safety policies to ensure effective safety management on site.

Key duties include developing SSOSP, delivering safety training, conducting safety tours, and leading audits to control hazards. Strong communication and leadership in a heavy industrial setting are required, with relevant health and safety qualifications.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol screening, respirator clearance, and physical abilities test.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the Site-Specific Operations and Safety Plan (SSOSP).
• Deliver corporate health and safety training to all newly hired personnel and recurrent training for existing personnel.
• Validate employee training, knowledge, skills and competency by conducting Safety Observation Tours.
• Develop and deliver specific training as job requires.
• Mentor and enforce safety requirements, including regulations and policies.
• Prepare, amend and maintain Task Instruction Sheets (TIS).
• Conduct site safety briefings and meetings with management and field staff.
• Conduct audits to identify hazardous conditions and ensure compliance with SSOSP and TIS.
• Prepare incident reports and investigate incidents including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Assist in procurement of safety supplies and equipment as needed.
• Participate in planning meetings and job site walk-throughs to identify hazards.
• Train employees on powered industrial equipment (fork trucks, burden carriers, etc.).
• Run SSRS reports to ensure medical monitoring and training requirements are current.
• Report to site leadership on effectiveness of the site safety program.
