Job summary

WEX, Inc. is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the Platform Reliability organization in Portland, ME. You will contribute to observability, incident response, and reliability across our corporate payments services.

The role requires hands-on SRE and development experience, cloud familiarity (AWS/Azure/GCP), and strong collaboration. Expect 24x7 rotations and a focus on performance improvements and automation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or equivalent role.
• 2+ years of development experience with at least one major programming language.
• Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced development and operations world.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with observability and logging technologies.
• Experience with at least one major RDBMS and NoSQL data store.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent job experience.

Responsibilities

• Dig deep into code, networking, OS, and/or storage to solve complex issues.
• Develop automation and monitoring to ensure system reliability.
• Participate in incident response and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to 24x7 Site Reliability rotations and escalation workflows.
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks and upgrade recommendations.
• Collaborate with development teams to meet operational requirements.
• Continuously improve processes for reliability and efficiency.
• Stay updated with industry trends and technologies.
