Job summary

Colonial Group in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a People Operations Manager to lead on-site HR across the site, owning recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, investigations, training coordination, and compliance. The role partners with site leadership to translate company policies into a consistent, values-aligned employee experience.

The ideal candidate will perform hands-on execution, exercise independent judgment on employee relations, and escalate only when policy or legal exposure requires

Qualifications

• Three or more years of progressive HR experience in site-based hospitality, retail, or frontline environments.
• Experience leading employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, training coordination, and corrective action.
• Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing employee documentation end-to-end.
• Experience supporting high-volume hourly or seasonal workforces is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent leadership experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Own on-site employee experience end-to-end, leading engagement and retention efforts.
• Coordinate and deliver site-level training on policy, compliance, and people practices.
• Own full recruiting cycle at the site, including posting, screening, and interview coordination.
• Manage onboarding and compliance, including I-9 and local/state requirements.
• Serve as primary on-site advisor for employee concerns, investigations, and corrective action.
• Lead by example, coach team members, and ensure consistent policy application.
• Oversee attendance and timekeeping integrity, ensuring accurate records and timely approvals.
