Job summary

Edgewood Properties Inc. in South Plainfield, NJ seeks an Excavation Division Estimator & Purchaser to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs, cost estimates and material procurement for site development and earthwork projects.

You will work with the Division Manager and Superintendent to ensure budgets are accurate and deliveries coordinated efficiently. The role requires collaboration with the Dispatcher and Production Coordinator to optimize material flow and cost efficiency, with a focus on

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of excavation/site work estimating and purchasing experience.
• Strong knowledge of site development materials and takeoff practices.
• Proficiency with takeoff/estimating software (Bluebeam, HeavyBid or similar).
• Strong negotiation, vendor management, and purchasing skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for excavation, grading, utilities and site work.
• Develop material, labor and equipment cost estimates for internal projects and bids.
• Analyze drawings and specs to define scope and requirements.
• Coordinate with management to validate estimates and production rates.
• Maintain a cost database for materials, equipment and subcontractors.
• Source competitive pricing from a minimum of three vendors per major purchase.
• Issue purchase orders and track deliveries with the dispatcher.
• Report on costs, procurement schedules and budget impacts.
