Site Civil Engineer — Urban Development & Design

Job summary

Stantec’s multi-disciplinary office in Tampa or Clearwater, Florida has an opportunity for a Civil Engineer / Designer - Site / Civil engineer to join our Land Development / Community Development team. We are seeking a candidate with experience in professional practice and design related to land development/community development.

This position will be involved with significant projects, interact with clients and government agencies and effectively working with a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 2+ years of design experience in civil/site development is preferred.
• EILicense is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans, and reports for relevant project design elements.
• Prepares and revises documentation required for land development permitting through local, state and federal jurisdictions.
• Performs quality reviews for documents in various project phases including construction plans, reviewing agency submittal packages, and engineering calculation reports.
• Assist in preparing engineering calculation reports including but not limited to: stormwater design, potable water design, sanitary sewer design, and irrigation design.
• Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
• Takes sufficient notes at all meetings in order to organize efforts and follow through with requested deliverables
• Coordinates and keeps consistent communication with other disciplines to ensure entire design team has same design intent and is on schedule
• Prepares and coordinates submittals to permitting entities
• Assists in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other construction administration tasks.
• Assists in the evaluation and selection of civil systems and materials.
• Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating.
• Performs calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
• Ready to step in and assist with any of design teams tasks in order to complete project on time and with quality design.
