Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners, process data in Artec Studio, and deliver scan-to-CAD outputs for construction and inspection projects. You will work on-site at various plants and sites, traveling regionally as needed.

The role requires hands-on scanning experience, CAD familiarity, and a valid driver's license, with opportunities for growth into lead technician or project management as the service line expands.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld scanners on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software.
• Familiarity with CAD and reading structural/fabrication drawings.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable record.
• Able to travel and fly with equipment as assigned; travel required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld scans of rebar, embeds, and structures.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export formats.
• Produce deviation maps, measurement reports, crack maps, and anchor bolt reports.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) or clean meshes for modeling.
• Document procedures and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, safety, and travel to regional hubs.
