Job summary

Ascension Living seeks a transportation teammate at Sacred Heart Village in Avilla, IN. You will transport residents, assist riders with entry/exit, and ensure wheelchair lifts and tie‑downs operate safely. Daily safety inspections, cleaning, and accurate logs are required.

You will support the supervisor, report incidents promptly, and help maintain on‑time schedules while delivering compassionate, reliable service to residents.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Driver's License prior to hire or transfer.
• BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• Heart Saver AED certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Transport residents safely and punctually, adjusting routes as needed to maintain schedules and handle unexpected changes.
• Assist riders entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring proper operation of wheelchair lifts and tie‑ downs.
• Conduct daily safety inspections and cleaning while maintaining accurate compliance logs.
• Assist the supervisor with daily operations and report any unusual situations or accidents immediately.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Drivers License obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.


• One or more of the following required:




• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.


• Heart Saver AED obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.




• Chauffeur preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.




• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
