Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking an experienced Shredder Manager for a high-volume scrap metal shredding facility in Massachusetts. The role focuses on maximizing production, equipment uptime, material recovery, safety, and overall operational efficiency while leading and developing the shredder team.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in scrap metal recycling with supervisory experience, deep knowledge of shredding equipment, and a strong safety mindset to enforce OSHA standards and lockout/tagout

Qualifications

• 5+ years in scrap metal recycling, preferably shredder operations.
• Supervisory/management experience in a scrap facility.
• Knowledge of shredder operations, material separation, and recovery.
• Mechanical aptitude for hydraulics, conveyors, motors.
• Experience with production scheduling and maintenance coordination.
• Strong OSHA lockout/tagout and safety knowledge.
• Proven ability to lead teams and improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shredder operations including production scheduling and throughput.
• Manage shredder operators, equipment operators, and production staff.
• Monitor performance, tonnage, downtime, and operating costs.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with the maintenance team.
• Ensure proper operation of shredder, conveyors, and separation systems.
• Optimize ferrous and nonferrous recovery while reducing losses.
• Inspect incoming scrap and remove prohibited or hazardous materials.
• Enforce OSHA standards, lockout/tagout, and environmental compliance.
• Manage staffing, training, and daily production priorities.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity and equipment reliability.
