Job summary

Alter Trading Corporation, a long‑standing metals recycler, seeks a Shredder Manager for its Sardis location to lead shredding and ferrous operations. You will drive safety, efficiency, and cost control while coordinating with maintenance, Transportation, and Marketing teams.

Ideal candidates bring 3–5 years supervising in heavy manufacturing, strong supervision and communication skills, and experience with mechanical/electrical systems. Outdoor environment familiarity is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher degree preferred.
• 3-5 years supervising staff in industrial manufacturing or heavy equipment production.
• Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic sub-systems and metals recycling operations.
• Hands-on operator in outdoor heavy manufacturing environment; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and environmental compliance across shredding operations.
• Set operating schedules and production goals with facility management.
• Use metrics to measure performance and quality of shredding operations.
• Prepare and monitor annual budgets and monthly operating costs.
• Identify and drive evaluation of new technology for future implementation.
• Manage trucking and rail transportation related to shredding operations.
• Oversee maintenance activities to improve availability and reduce costs.
• Direct production staff on one shift; handle staffing and development decisions.
• Collaborate with Marketing to grade and price scrap and maintain customer relations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
