Job summary

RTX is seeking a Should-Cost Engineer to build and advance cost-modeling capabilities across RTX products and commodities. You will leverage aPriori, engineering designs, and historical data to develop, validate, and maintain cost models that inform sourcing decisions.

You will collaborate with Supply Chain and cross-functional partners, gain broad exposure to RTX commodities, and lead training on cost-modeling methods while supporting continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent with 3–5 years of related experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
• Experience working with SAP and cost modeling or cost analysis.
• Proficiency with cost modeling tools and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost-modeling and benchmarking activities for complex assemblies and components.
• Utilize aPriori and internal cost models to develop detailed cost elements.
• Translate engineering drawings into cost drivers (material, labor, overhead, tooling, logistics).
• Develop and maintain cost roll-ups and drivers to support supplier negotiations.
• Document assumptions and cost-driver logic with clear justification.
• Build forward-looking cost models using historical data when tools are not available.
• Validate and calibrate models regularly for accuracy and relevance.
• Train new users on cost-modeling methods and tools; support process improvements.
• Perform should-cost assessments using aPriori.
• Gain broad exposure to RTX commodities and designs and grow expertise in cost modeling.
