Job summary

RTX Enterprise Services in Puerto Rico seeks a Should-Cost Engineer to build and maintain cost models that support supplier negotiations across RTX products. You will leverage aPriori, historical data, and engineering drawings to derive transparent cost elements and drive cost reduction opportunities.

The role involves cross-functional collaboration, training others on cost-modeling methods, and ongoing model validation. Travel is limited and the work is performed remotely within Puerto Rico.

Qualifications

• A University Degree or equivalent experience with minimum 5 years in relevant work, or an advanced degree with minimum 3 years experience.
• Experience working with SAP.
• Experience with cost modeling or cost analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost-modeling and benchmarking activities for complex assemblies and components.
• Use aPriori extensively, along with internally developed regression-based and still-to-be-developed cost models.
• Translate engineering drawings and 3D models into detailed cost elements including material, labor, overhead, tooling, and logistics.
• Develop cost roll-ups and cost drivers at appropriate levels of granularity to support supplier negotiations.
• Create and document assumptions and cost-driver logic.
• Use historical data to build forward-looking cost models when dedicated should-cost tools are not available.
• Validate and calibrate models on a regular basis to ensure accuracy and relevance.
• Train new or junior users on aPriori, cost-modeling methods, and standard work; contribute to continuous improvement of processes and tools.
• Perform should-cost assessments using aPriori software.
• In this role you will gain exposure to RTX commodities and designs to build broad expertise in cost modeling and related methodologies.
