Job summary

Caleres is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Rockford, IL, full-time, to lead the team and deliver the best shoe store experience through customer engagement.

You will act as the store leader in the manager's absence, motivate a sales-driven team, manage operations, and uphold our standards for presentation and service.

With a focus on coaching, interviewing, and hiring, you’ll develop Associates to hit growth targets while building an inclusive, high-energy culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading a retail team to hit sales targets.
• Ability to coach and develop Associates for better customer service.
• Strong understanding of store operations, inventory, and merchandising.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspire the customer connection and foster a caring culture.
• Champion talent discovery and help interview/hire strong candidates.
• Oversee daily retail operations, pricing, shipping, and inventory controls.
• Be the store's right hand in the absence of the Store Manager and ensure policy compliance.
