Job summary

HII's Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia is seeking a Foreman for the 2nd shift to supervise semi-skilled and skilled trades, assign work, and ensure conformity to drawings and procedures. The role emphasizes training and developing staff to improve quality and productivity while controlling costs.

Must have one of the listed qualifications (Bachelor’s, Apprenticeship, or high school plus years in manufacturing or shipbuilding).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree OR
• Apprentice Certification OR
• High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience OR
• Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience

Responsibilities

• Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge.
• Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed and assists in training procedures.
• Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans.
• Responsible for complying with all drawings, procedures, and for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing and process operations with financial impact.
• Monitors job and budget performance for all shifts.

Bachelor's Degree

Apprentice Certification

High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience
