Job summary

State Steel Supply Co. in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a Shipping Coordinator to work with the Shipping clerk to inform Scheduling and Sales of shipping requirements and available orders, coordinating with Traffic and external vendors to optimize deliveries.

This full-time role requires a valid driver’s license, basic math and computer skills, and the ability to read instructions. You’ll build shipping schedules, verify paperwork, and help improve processes in a safety-conscious, team-oriented

Qualifications

• Basic math skills required.
• Basic literacy for reading instructions and using hand tools.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Attend all scheduled safety, department, and company meetings.
• Follow and enforce company safety policies at all times.
• Communicate with Allocations/Scheduler to indicate trailer availability.
• Coordinate with Traffic, customers and warehouse supervisors to schedule pickups and trailer drop-offs.
• Produce Shipping Schedule based on truckload quantities and trailer availability.
• Ensure inventory accuracy by following material movement procedures and proper documentation.
• Confirm order paperwork including mill test reports and ensure orders meet customer requirements; report discrepancies.
• Report on ongoing or potential quality issues to supervisor or manager.
• Participate in process improvements.
• Conduct self in a cooperative, safe, productive and team-oriented manner.
