Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Marine Mechanic to support the SEMAT EQOL team. This Marine Mechanic will be responsible for performing mechanical maintenance and training shipboard personnel in the operation, maintenance and repair of galley, laundry, and mess-decks equipment aboard USN surface ships.

The role requires high school or trade school, 6 years related experience, ability to obtain DoD Confidential security clearance, and the ability to read ship drawings

Qualifications

• High School education or trade school; 6 years related experience.
• Must obtain and maintain a DoD Confidential security clearance.
• Experience with shipboard mechanical maintenance and repair.
• Ability to read ship drawings, manuals and technical documents.
• Provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Physically able to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment.
• Start date contingent upon base access.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on galley, scullery, mess-decks and laundry equipment aboard ships.
• Interface with customers and manage subcontractors; provide direction to others.
• May manage one or more jobs.
• Complete comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools.
• Perform a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
• Develop and use technical documents including work packages and reports.
• Schedule, report and brief customers and senior management.
• May perform quality inspections on finished product.
• Perform duties outside of specialty to complete assignment.
