Job summary

HII’s Mission Technologies division in San Diego, CA seeks a Marine Mechanic for the SECAP team to troubleshoot and repair HM&E systems, hydraulics, valves and pumps. You will also maintain auxiliary equipment and support shipboard operations in a challenging, shipyard environment.

The role is full-time, non-exempt with 0–10% travel. Requires high school or trade school, 6 years of shipboard experience, U.S. citizenship, and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

• High School education or trade school equivalent.
• 6 years of related shipboard mechanical experience.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain DoD security clearance.
• Shipboard maintenance and repair experience.
• Ability to read ship drawings and technical manuals.
• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Must be physically able to climb and work on ships.

Responsibilities

• Assist ship's force with shipboard mechanical troubleshooting and repair on DC and engineering systems.
• Use an On-Hands approach to support Sailor strengths.
• Identify materials and manuals needed for repairs.
• Apply understanding of production and processes to complete tasks.
• Interface with customers and manage subcontractors; provide work direction.
• Perform a variety of non-routine tasks and duties outside of specialty.
• Develop and use technical documents and reports; prepare trip reports.
• Schedule, report, and brief customers and senior management.
