Job summary
AdvantEdge Technology, Inc. seeks a Boat Mechanic/Deckhand to support the Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) out of Port Hueneme, CA. You will perform preventative maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and underway mission operations for the SDTS small craft fleet, including US Navy 7m RHIBs.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with marine diesel engines, reading drawings, and shipboard systems. Navy experience as BM/EN with small craft PQS is highly desired; ability to obtain TWIC, MMC with
Qualifications
- Technical degree with 4 years’ related boat maintenance experience.
- Experience with Marine Diesel Engines and Outdrives.
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Capable of troubleshooting and working independently.
- Knowledge of small boat systems including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic.
- Familiar with NAVY PMS SKED based maintenance and safety QA.
Responsibilities
- Support preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of SDTS small craft.
- Operate and maintain US Navy RHIBs in a shipboard environment.
- Assist with underway mission operations and watches as assigned.
- Train boat crews in safe operation and maintenance of small craft fleet.
- Follow shipboard safety requirements, tag‑out procedures, and QA processes.
- Collaborate with ship’s force and engineering personnel to meet mission needs.
