Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries is seeking a Marine Mechanic with AC&R experience to support the SEMAT EQOL team at Pearl Harbor, HI. The role focuses on mechanical maintenance and training to assist shipboard personnel in operating, maintaining and repairing galley, laundry and mess-decks equipment aboard USN surface ships.

The position requires 6 years of related experience, shipboard maintenance skills, ability to read ship drawings, and readiness to obtain a DOD Confidential clearance.

Qualifications

• High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Confidential security clearance.
• Must have shipboard mechanical maintenance and repair experience.
• Must be able to read and interpret equipment and system ship drawings and ship technical documents and manuals.
• Must be competent in the use of mechanical equipment and tools in corrective repair efforts in order to accomplish ship repairs.
• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Must be physically able to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment.
• Start date contingent upon approved DBIDS ID base access, which is required for this position and continued employment

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on galley and mess-decks air conditioning and refrigeration units onboard ships.
• Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work directions to others.
• May manage one or more multiple jobs. Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools.
• Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures,testdocuments, reports and task or trip reports.
• Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. May perform quality inspections on finished product.
