Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) is seeking a Marine Mechanic to join the SEMAT EQOL team in San Diego, CA. The role requires hands-on maintenance and repair of galley, laundry, and mess-decks equipment aboard USN surface ships, interfacing with shipboard personnel and subcontractors.

You will read drawings, perform scheduled maintenance, and support training efforts while complying with security requirements and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must have shipboard mechanical maintenance and repair experience.
• Must be able to read and interpret equipment and systems ship drawings, technical documents, and manuals.
• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Must be physically able to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on mechanical equipment/systems in galley, scullery, mess-decks, and laundry equipment aboard ships.
• Interface with customers and manage subcontractors; provide work direction to others as needed.
• May manage one or more multiple jobs.
• Develops and uses technical documents including work packages, procedures, reports.
• Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management.
• May perform quality inspections on finished product.
• May perform duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.
