Job summary

HII’s Mission Technologies division in San Diego, CA seeks a Marine Mechanic to perform mechanical maintenance and training for galley, laundry, and mess-decks equipment aboard USN surface ships.

You will interface with customers, supervise subcontractors, lead jobs, and develop technical documents while maintaining safety and quality standards. Travel may be required and a DoD security clearance is preferred or obtainable.

Qualifications

• High School or trade school education with 4 years of related experience.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
• Shipboard mechanical maintenance and repair experience.
• Ability to read drawings, manuals, and technical documents.
• Own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Able to climb ships and work in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on galley, scullery, mess-decks, and laundry equipment onboard ships.
• Interface with customers, manage subcontractors, and provide work direction to others.
• May manage one or more jobs.
• Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools; performs a variety of tasks.
• Develops and uses technical documents including work packages and reports.
• Schedules, briefs customers and senior management.
• May perform quality inspections on finished product.
• Performs duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.
