Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking an Experienced Engineering Technician to join our team in Chesapeake, VA, supporting U.S. Navy shipboard projects. This role focuses on troubleshooting, electrical work, data recording, and QA in a rigorous defense environment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, DoD Secret clearance eligibility, OSHA 10, and experience with shipboard electrical systems, fiber optics, and drawings. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.
Ability to access shipyards and pass background/drug screening.
OSHA 10 certification.
Respirator qualification and PPE use.
Experience in electrical work on ships.
At least 2 years of combined experience in listed areas.
Competency attaching fiber optic, RJ-45, DB connectors.
Read drawings; Tradesman level.
QA and safety program experience.

Responsibilities

Perform troubleshooting and correct malfunctions.
Conduct various tests or experiments, modify setups, records data.
Perform electrical work on ships, boats, and marine equipment.
Gather and maintain records of engineering data; perform computations and plot data.
Perform routine tests (tensile/hardness) and operate test equipment; record data.
