Job summary

Serco Inc. is hiring an Entry Marine Electrician to join a team supporting U.S. Navy ships, performing on-board electrical installations, testing, and maintenance in Norfolk, VA and surrounding ships' facilities.

The role requires 1 year of ship electrical experience, ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance, OSHA certification, U.S. citizenship, and comfort working in high-heat spaces, lifting up to 50 pounds; travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance is required.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of direct experience with electrical work on ships, boats, and marine equipment.
• Ability to access shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS) and pass a background investigation and drug screen.
• OSHA certification required.
• Familiarity with NAVSEA standards in electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.
• Physically able to work in hot spaces, climb shipyard stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, and maintain safety.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions on electrical systems aboard ships.
• Conduct tests and measure data, modify test setups as needed.
• Perform electrical work on ships, boats, and marine equipment.
• Repair wiring and restore power to engines and navigation systems; secure work areas aboard vessels.
• Record engineering data, perform basic calculations, and plot data.
