Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking an Experienced Engineering Technician to join a dynamic team supporting U.S. Navy ships in Chesapeake, VA.

You will troubleshoot, test, and perform electrical work on ships, gather engineering data, and maintain records, with responsibilities that include reading drawings and ensuring safety procedures are followed on complex marine systems. This role requires the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance, OSHA 10, and readiness to work in high heat spaces while wearing PPE;

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain active DoD Secret Clearance.
• Ability to access shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS) and pass background/drug screening.
• Ability to obtain OSHA 10 certification.
• Ability to wear PPE and respirator in shift.
• Experience in electrical work and shipboard setting.
• Competency attaching fiber optic, RJ-45 connectors, and DB-type connectors.
• Read drawings at Tradesman/apprentice level.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform corrective actions.
• Conduct tests and experiments, modify setups as needed, and record data with standard equipment.
• Perform electrical work on ships, boats, and marine equipment.
• Gather and maintain engineering data, perform calculations, and plot results.
• Perform routine tests (tensile/hardness) and operate basic test equipment.
