Job summary

Buhler USD 313 is seeking a Shining Stars Director for Plum Creek Elementary to oversee the after-preschool program for eligible students. The role runs 8 hours daily (7:30-3:30) through the school year, with responsibilities including supervision, billing, and program coordination.

The position requires leadership, licensure eligibility, and strong communication to support student progress and maintain a safe learning environment within KDHE guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• KDHE Child Care Center Program Director Licensure is required or eligibility determined with assistance.
• Computer skills are needed for records and communication.
• Be willing to learn, adapt to change, and be a self-starter.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to relate to students and staff with sensitivity.
• Maintain current TB testing as required by regulations.

Responsibilities

• Follow all KDHE Child Care Center regulations.
• Communicate with staff and parents to support student progress.
• Maintain manual and electronic files for mandated requirements.
• Hire, train, and supervise aides in the Shining Stars room.
• Send billings, collect fees, and transfer funds to the office for deposit.
• Monitor students to ensure a safe, positive learning environment.
• Provide instructional support to students in various activities.
• Prepare information and reports for regulatory compliance.
• Attend meetings and trainings to stay informed on job functions.
• Collaborate with district staff and community members for a productive work environment.
• Demonstrate dependability and regular attendance to maintain routines.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
