Job summary

South Shore Stars seeks an Assistant Director of Early Education Programs to oversee administrative and programmatic functions across Stars Preschool and Centers. You will work with the Director, Education Coordinator, Family Services, and Center Directors to ensure safety, compliance, and high-quality early education services.

The role involves curriculum support, staff development, budgeting, and coordination with schools and families.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary studies in early childhood education or similar field.
• Minimum of five years’ experience teaching young children (infants/toddlers).
• Experience administering Early Childhood programs in a large center.
• Experience leading a team across multiple programs in multiple communities.
• Strong supervision, leadership and communication skills.
• Public speaking, facilitation, and team-building abilities.
• EEC Director 2 certification – Preschool/Infant-Toddler Lead Teacher preferred.
• Transportation to centers and required meetings/trainings.
• Nonprofit agency experience preferred.
• Experience with at-risk families and state agency collaborations.
• Evenings, weekends, and non-business hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assume Director responsibilities in absence for safety, compliance, and operations.
• Assist in curriculum implementation and staff development.
• Manage a team of Directors and staff across centers.
• Design and implement training for Directors and support staff.
• Develop and monitor program policies and procedures.
• Plan staffing patterns and budgets with leadership.
• Coordinate child assessments and use of data with educators.
• Lead program evaluation and action plans for improvement.
• Maintain enrollment portals and licensing/NAEYC compliance tasks
• Prepare for NAEYC accreditation processes.
• Observe centers, consult with Directors and Lead Teachers.
• Meet regularly with Directors, staff, and Family Support Clinicians on needs.
• Support parent education and involvement activities.
• Coordinate with local schools to align services.
• Oversee Early Education transportation and route planning.
• Assist in annual program budget and spending oversight.

Education

Post-secondary studies in early childhood education or related field

Five years’ experience teaching young children (infants & toddlers)

Experience administering Early Childhood programs in a large center

Experience managing a team across multiple programs/communities

Strong supervision skills

Public speaking, facilitation, communication, team building

EEC Director 2 certification (preferred)

Preschool & Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher Certification (preferred)

Transportation to visit centers & attend meetings/trainings

Nonprofit/at-risk population experience (preferred)

Evenings/weekends availability
