Job summary

Genpak Carthage is seeking an Assistant Production Supervisor to step in for the Supervisor during vacations and PTO, oversee all production lines, and assist and train Line Operators and Trainees.

This role emphasizes safety, adherence to lockout/tagout, quality standards, communication with shifts, and supporting maintenance and start-ups to ensure high quality, efficient output at the lowest cost.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) required.
• Forklift certification required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Solid mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide, including ratios and percentages.
• Solid reasoning ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.

Responsibilities

• Replace the Supervisor during vacations and PTO days.
• Represent management as a direct extension of Shift supervision and work with the management team.
• Promote safety, enforce lock out/tag out compliance, and lead safety initiatives.
• Fill in for Operators during vacations/absences to minimize overtime.
• Maintain a safe working environment on Thermoforming lines and related equipment.
• Ensure product quality on all lines and communicate with Line Operators on quality issues.
• Ensure housekeeping and a clean, safe work environment.
• Complete shift paperwork and train others to do so.
• Train new operators with safety as the top priority and emphasize quality and cost control.
• Monitor production rates (CPM) and waste, and develop scrap-reduction plans.
• Understand resins, additives, packaging, labeling, and dating; direct use of materials accordingly.
• Assist with line monitoring (filters, oilers, silicone tanks) and troubleshooting.
• Direct Operators, Packers, and Utilities for efficient use of resources.
• Coordinate with maintenance on line issues, with startups post-changeovers, and assist in repairs as possible.
• Set up lines to the provided setup sheet and ensure quick start-ups.
