Job summary

Donatos in Newport News is seeking a Shift Manager to lead Quality and Services, coach associates, and ensure safe, high‑quality food and friendly service. The role includes opening/closing the restaurant in absence of a salaried Manager and handling administrative tasks while safeguarding staff and assets.

You will train new associates, monitor food safety, manage shift execution, scheduling, and cost control, and uphold Donatos' standards and policies.

Qualifications

• 1-year experience as Shift Lead or Manager or Donatos equivalent experience.
• Completion of Donatos MIT Program and all corresponding certifications, Shift Manager E‑learning modules, and food safe handler courses.
• Ability to execute all items on the Shift Manager readiness checklist.
• Comfort coaching and developing Associates to deliver high quality service.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with and listens to customers attentively and enthusiastically.
• Anticipates customer needs and removes service barriers at all access points.
• Trains new Associates to execute Donatos standards and processes.
• Ensures orders are accurate and delivered within quoted times.
• Manages shift execution, including pre/post-shift checklists and game plans.
• Coaches the team on People, Promise and Prosperity drivers.
• Models performance standards and takes ownership for product quality, service, and prosperity.
• Controls food cost components of waste, prep, weights, and theft during shifts.
• Opens and/or closes the restaurant with proper procedures and completes paperwork.
• Maintains cash control procedures and inventory, vendor orders, and invoices.
