Job summary

Steak ’n Shake in Decatur, IL is seeking a Shift Manager to lead daily restaurant operations and uphold high standards of service and quality.

You will set the tone for shifts, coach staff, ensure openings/closings, count drawers, and handle deposits while maintaining brand standards. This role requires reliability, servant-leadership, and clear communication, with availability nights, weekends, holidays and US work authorization.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising restaurant teams is preferred.
• Strong guest service orientation and problem-solving skills.
• US work authorization required.
• Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily restaurant operations with energy, confidence, and accountability
• Ensure openings and closings by setting up the team for success
• Set the tone for the shift—motivate and coach team members
• Deliver fast, friendly, and accurate service
• Ensure brand standards— cleanliness, food safety, and quality
• Handle opening and closing duties, including key-holder responsibilities
• Count drawers, manage deposits, and finalize end-of-day reports
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with guests and team members
• Support training and onboarding of new team members

• Step into any station as needed to keep operations running smoothly
