Johnny’s Markets in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to keep our friendly store running smoothly across shifts when the Store Manager is away. You’ll help customers, supervise staff, and ensure the store is clean, stocked, and safe at all times.

This full-time, hourly role pays $18-21 per hour. You’ll lead HR tasks, manage scheduling, and partner with suppliers while upholding Johnny’s policies and community values.

Qualifications

• Strong communication with employees, customers, supervisors, and vendors.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail and multi-task daily.
• Valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle for work-related activities.
• College degree or two years of related experience and/or training.
• Basic computer and software knowledge (Word, Excel, email).
• Willingness to work any area of the store and operate a computerized register.
• Able to bend, stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs., and frequently carry up to 10 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Set the bar for your store’s customer service and ensure friendly, efficient service.
• Provide guidance to keep your team and store looking their best.
• Handle HR duties including training, scheduling, and supervising the team.
• Follow store goals to maximize sales while controlling operating expenses.
• Partner with suppliers and vendors professionally.
• Address complaints promptly to keep customers happy.
• Stay on top of bookwork and share documents with home office.
