Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a hands-on instrumentation and control lead to support Ground System Development. You will supervise technicians, plan and execute installation, testing, and commissioning of I&C systems, and drive safe, reliable operations across launch facilities.

Responsibilities include mentoring staff, coordinating with engineering and safety teams, and ensuring compliance with procedures while advancing continuous improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include 3+ years in mission/flight operations or launch/test environments.
  • Frontline leadership experience directing technicians or operators.
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation (procedures, drawings, schematics).

Responsibilities

  • Lead technicians in daily instrumentation and control system activities with focus on safety, quality and schedule.
  • Plan, assign, and monitor work—shift coverage, overtime, and backup coverage.
  • Ensure work complies with procedures, drawings, and safety/quality requirements.
  • Provide hands-on support for integration, checkout, test, and operations of ground systems.
  • Coach, develop, and mentor team members; conduct performance check-ins.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and recognition for your team.
  • Communicate status, issues, and risks to leadership and partner teams clearly.
  • Foster a strong safety culture; identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements to safety, quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas with 5S practices.
