Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer III to support liquid rocket engine test facilities in Van Horn, TX. You will design PLC programs, electrical panels and harnesses, and maintain DAQ systems while mentoring junior engineers and driving safe, efficient test operations.

The role requires proficiency in CAD-based schematic/panel design, PLC programming (Allen Bradley/Siemens), and instrumentation integration with data acquisition hardware.

Qualifications

• MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years in electrical schematic and panel layout design using CAD.
• 5–10 years PLC programming experience (Allen Bradley or Siemens).
• Proficiency with instrumentation integration with data acquisition hardware.
• Experience with electrical diagnostics equipment and industrial sensors/actuators.

Responsibilities

• Develop new tools for the team and serve as SME for multiple projects.
• Provide high-level support for engine test stands and mentor junior engineers.
• Design, upgrade, and modify PLC programs for test stands and electrical panels.
• Maintain and upgrade test stand DAQ systems and troubleshoot hardware.
• Coordinate instrumentation, data and control system integration at test stands and oversee harness/work.”
• Support test operations and contribute to continuous improvement for safety and cost savings.
