Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in the United States seeks a senior instrument/control team lead to manage the I&C technicians supporting the Ground System Development organization. The role focuses on installing, testing, and commissioning instrumentation and control systems for ground facilities and launch operations.

You will lead the team, coach and mentor members, plan schedules, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards while coordinating with engineering, planning, logistics, and safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in mission/flight operations, launch/test operations, aerospace/industrial systems, or similar operational environment.
• 3+ years of frontline leadership directing technicians or operators.
• Experience with complex or hazardous systems (cryogenic, pneumatic, hydraulic, high voltage, propellants).
• Ability to read and follow technical documentation (procedures, drawings, schematics, manuals).
• Proven ability to plan and prioritize daily work for a team while meeting safety, quality, and schedule commitments.
• Basic proficiency with digital tools (email, spreadsheets, maintenance/operations systems) and ability to learn new tools quickly.
• Willingness to support non-standard hours, travel occasionally to other Blue Origin sites.
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead technicians in day-to-day activities with a focus on safety, quality, and schedule.
• Plan, assign, and monitor work and coverage.
• Ensure work is performed per procedures, instructions, drawings, and safety/quality requirements.
• Provide hands-on technical support for integration, checkout, test, and operations of ground systems.
• Conduct performance reviews and mentor team members.
• Lead team growth through interviewing, onboarding, and recognition.
• Review and sign timecards.
• Communicate status, issues, and risks to leadership and partner teams.
• Support workforce planning, budgets, and resource forecasting for the I&C technician team.
• Drive a strong safety culture and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to safety, quality, efficiency.
• Maintain clean and compliant work areas.
