Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Team Lead to foster a high-performing group responsible for the build, installation, testing and troubleshooting of ground I&C systems supporting launch operations.

You will lead with safety and quality as top priorities, coordinating with engineering, planning, logistics, and safety across multiple sites. A hands-on leader, you will mentor engineers and technicians to ensure readiness and reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years in mission/flight operations or related aerospace environments.
• 3+ years in frontline leadership directing technicians or operators.
• Experience with complex or hazardous systems (cryogenic, hydraulic, high pressure, etc.).
• Able to read and follow technical documentation (procedures, drawings, schematics).
• Proficient with basic digital tools and able to learn new systems.
• Willing to work nonstandard hours and travel occasionally to other Blue Origin sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead technicians in instrumentation and control system build, installation, test and troubleshoot with focus on safety, quality, and schedule.
• Plan, assign, and monitor work (shift coverage, work center assignments, overtime, and backup coverage).
• Ensure work is performed per approved procedures, work instructions, drawings, and safety/quality requirements.
• Provide hands-on technical support for integration, checkout, test, and operations of ground systems as needed.
• Conduct regular performance check-ins, annual and mid-year reviews; coach, develop, and mentor team members.
• Lead team growth and support through interviewing and hiring, onboarding, training, and recognition for your team.
• Review and sign timecards.
• Communicate work status, issues, and risks clearly to leadership and partner teams.
