Job summary

Chaipolitan Teahouse & Cafe in Nashville is seeking a shift lead to supervise baristas, direct daily operations, and ensure an exceptional guest experience. You’ll assign stations, manage flow of dine-in and takeout orders, monitor inventory, and coach staff while reporting to the General Manager.

Qualifications

• Prior barista or comparable high-volume food-and-beverage experience required; leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Proficiency in essential barista skills: dialing in espresso, texturing milk, preparing beverages to standard recipes.
• Ability to lead by example, direct responsibilities, and provide constructive feedback to shift staff.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily shift operations by assigning baristas to stations, coordinating breaks, and adjusting coverage based on customer volume.
• Manage flow, accuracy, quality, and timeliness of food and beverage orders; provide hands-on support during busy periods.
• Supervise and coach baristas, communicate shift priorities, and escalate major concerns to the General Manager.
• Prepare and serve chai, coffee, espresso beverages, and food items following established recipes and standards.
• Deliver excellent guest experiences by greeting customers, explaining products and prices, accommodating dietary preferences, and resolving concerns.
• Monitor inventory and ensure ingredients, supplies, and packaging are stocked throughout the shift.
• Maintain clean, safe operations and comply with food-safety and service standards.
