GEO Corrections & Detentions is seeking a Captain to serve as shift commander, overseeing security operations, staff coordination, and inmate supervision. The role emphasizes safeguarding inmates, enforcing policies, and maintaining orderly facility operations.

The ideal candidate will lead with strong leadership, adapt to fast-paced environments, and ensure compliance with corrections laws and internal procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; college coursework desirable.
• Minimum of three years in a correctional setting, with supervisory duties.
• Strong leadership, empathy, and ability to work with a diverse population.

Responsibilities

• Assist in policy development for custody, security, and treatment of detainees.
• Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with security, safety, and facility regulations.
• Review disciplinary matters involving staff and inmates.
• Coordinate staffing for security supervisors and officers.
• Respond to unusual occurrences.
• Provide direct line supervision over detention officers and ensure staff training.
• Promote an atmosphere conducive to positive behavior and institution morale.
• Facilitate prompt assistance to detainees in injury, illness, or trauma.
• Provide guidance and referrals for complex problems.
• Support detainees in relating to facility programs.
• Write documents including policies and negotiations.
• Implement facility goals.
• Monitor daily logs.
