The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Captain to serve as shift commander, directing security and control operations during each shift. You will oversee staff, supervise inmates, and ensure safety while preparing records and reports, policies, and procedures.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of three years in a correctional setting with supervisory experience, along with U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.

Qualifications

• Must meet basic qualifications as a Corrections Officer.
• Minimum high school graduate or equivalent; related college courses highly desirable.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a correctional setting, one of which was in a supervisory role.
• Must be a United States citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
• Must have lived in the U.S. for the past five (5) consecutive years.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Ability to communicate and interact with a variety of personalities.
• Ability to write communication documents, policies, courtroom defenses, contract negotiations, and other required written correspondence.
• Working knowledge of laws relating to corrections.
• Working knowledge of all applicable court orders.

Responsibilities

• Direct security and control operations during a shift as shift commander.
• Oversee staff, ensure inmate supervision and safety, and prepare records and reports.
• Develop and implement custody, security, and treatment policies and procedures.
• Conduct inspections for compliance with security, safety, and facility regulations.
• Coordinate staffing for security supervisors and officers; assess staff effectiveness.
• Promote positive inmate behavior and facilitate access to facility programs.
• Assist inmates in case of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.
• Provide guidance when issues arise and refer complex problems.
