Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada is hiring for Our Place Family Shelter. Variable hour, day or swing shift Support Staff will support residents, manage meals, coordinate clothing and property needs, and help maintain a safe, clean shelter environment on a 20-acre campus.

CPR and First Aid training within 90 days is required; the role demands irregular hours, strong teamwork, and compassionate service to families experiencing homelessness.

Qualifications

• Teamwork and communication abilities are essential.
• Clear written and verbal English communication required.
• Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and assist residents and staff.
• Strong organizational skills for daily operations.
• Analytical thinking and decision-making under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate service to residents and participants.
• Explain program rules and assist with daily routines.
• Coordinate meals, sleeping assignments, showers, laundering, and clothing tasks.
• Maintain safety checks and incident reporting on shift.
• Assist with clerical duties and participant property management.
