Job summary

The Salvation Army in Seattle is seeking a Shelter Support Staff member to handle client intakes, interviews, and data processing within the King County Shelter Program. The role works closely with residents to ensure safety and deliver essential services, under daily supervision by program managers.

Applicants should have a HS Diploma or GED and at least 6 months in public-facing roles; WA driver’s license preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months experience in public contact/customer service.
• Experience in social service shelter/residential setting preferred.
• WA Driver’s License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to crisis and inquiry calls by providing support, information, and referrals.
• Assist residents to ensure a safe environment and enforce rules.
• Conduct periodic facility inspections to identify hazards and needed repairs.
• Respond to emergencies and provide timely notification to authorities.
• Conduct client intakes and departure processes per policy.
• Provide orientation and supervision to staff and volunteers.
• Work with Salvation Army staff and community partners respectfully.
• Maintain case records and required forms per procedures.
• Perform general facility cleaning and assist janitorial staff as needed.
