Job summary

The Salvation Army in Seattle is seeking Shelter Support Staff to assist with client intakes, interviews, and data processing for the King County Shelter Program. You will ensure safety, de-escalate incidents, and coordinate with shelter staff to meet daily needs of guests.

Position requires in-person interviews in Seattle, regular full-time status, and a pay rate of $25.05/hour. Prior experience in social services and a valid WA driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 6 months experience in public contact/customer service.
• Experience in social service shelter / residential preferred.
• WA Driver’s License preferred

Responsibilities

• Respond to crisis and inquiry telephone calls by providing support, information, and referrals to other appropriate social service.
• Provide assistance to residents to ensure a safe environment, to include compliance with rules and
• Conduct periodic walking inspections of all areas of the facility, for the purpose of identifying hazards and initiating action.
• Respond to emergency situations, making independent decisions within policy guidelines.
• Provide crisis intervention and institute security procedures and notify authorities as needed.
• Conduct client intakes and departure processes, as required by department policy.
• Provide orientation, support, and supervision to staff and volunteers.
• Maintain case records and required forms and reports in prescribed systems.
• Comply with Salvation Army procedures and handbook requirements.
• Prepare water, coffee, snacks for guests; general cleaning of facility areas.
• Work with Janitorial staff as assigned.
• Perform other duties as requested.
