Job summary

Catholic Charities of Cleveland is seeking a Shelter Assistant to help maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for residents. You will supervise clients, assist with daily activities, and ensure programs run smoothly in line with our mission.

Responsibilities include client support, transport to appointments, de-escalation, data entry into Penelope/Avatar, and monitoring meals and pantry operations. Requires HS diploma and valid OH license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with college coursework and/or technical experience.
• Must be at least 21 years old at time of hire.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License with MVR check; no unacceptable MVR grade.
• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Good computer skills; experience with Avatar or case management software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shelter clients; oversee check-in and enforce policies.
• Provide client support and guide program participation.
• Transport clients to appointments and activities as needed.
• Perform de-escalation interventions when required.
• Supervise medication self-administration procedures.
• Plan daily activities; monitor meals and pantry operations.
• Enter service data and demographics into Penelope or Avatar.
• Maintain records and assist with reports to funding entities.
