Job summary

ST VINCENT DE PAUL OF BALTIMORE INC is seeking a Shift Supervisor to oversee day-to-day shelter operations, staff and guest welfare. You will manage intake, discharge, safety, and coordinate support services to promote dignity and transition toward stability.

In this role you will supervise program staff and volunteers, plan coverage, ensure HMIS compliance, and respond to crises with calm, compassionate leadership to maintain a safe and supportive environment for families and individuals.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years’ experience working with, and sensitivity to, persons who are poor and/or homeless.
• Experience in crisis intervention, behavior management, and/or conflict resolution.
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds in a non-judgmental manner.
• Commitment to guest confidentiality and privacy.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and oversight for day-to-day shelter operations and staff scheduling.
• Oversee intake and discharge of guests and maintain HMIS records.
• Ensure safety and security of guests, volunteers, and staff during shifts.
• Supervise Program Assistants and provide guidance on conflict resolution.
• Coordinate enrollment for school-aged children and arrange necessary supplies.
• Monitor attendance and bed utilization; report unexcused absences to Case Manager.
